The idea behind this is to provide interested medical personnel an idea of working with individuals with disabilities in the medical profession. There are over 300,000 individuals with disabilities in the state, from young children to senior citizens, and all of them need services from a medical care provider statewide. We need more people in this field, to have a strong background in working with this population. Having a dialogue is important between the disability community and the professionals in the medical community, so that they can obtain information and a better understanding of each other. Whether the medical professionals are planning a career as a primary physician, dentist, surgeons, PAs, nurses and other specialist, this would be an important topic to explore.
